Premium   Download PDF Now (30 pages)
Report Type Reports and Testimonies
Report Date Nov. 13, 1989
Report No. AFMD-90-26BR
Subject
Summary:

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO provided information on federal fraud hotlines and the President's Council on Integrity and Efficiency (PCIE) jurisdiction.

GAO found that: (1) the fraud hotlines were operating well, but they could be better promoted and made more accessible; (2) hotline personnel were generally experienced and well-trained, although a study showed that information operators at 6 of 25 agencies could not provide the correct hotline number; and (3) a centralized hotline system would not improve hotline operations, because agency hotline personnel are familiar with agency programs and operations, and a centralized system would cause administrative delays.
