Report No. B-197291
Subject
Summary:

The Congressional Reports Elimination Act of 1980 is proposed legislation which consolidates the reporting reductions sent by GAO to the House Subcommittee on Legislation and National Security and those contained in other proposed legislation. One section of the bill would repeal a reporting requirement for the Director of the Office of Management and Budget and the Secretary of the Treasury to develop plans annually for addressing the information needs identified and specified by the Comptroller General for committees and Congressmen for fiscal, budgetary, and program-related information. GAO supported the elimination of this requirement with the understanding that GAO would be able to provide this information to Congress.
