Summary:

The Edward Byrne Memorial State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance Programs are sources of federal financial assistance for state and local drug law enforcement efforts. For FY1995 the Congress has appropriated $512 million for the programs. Since the inception of the programs in 1986, $3.3 billion have been appropriated. The programs are authorized through FY2000.
