The Caucus is focused serving as the focal point to discuss issues concerning the development and use of unmanned systems and on passing legislation that will set policy, direct oversight and provide direction for unmanned systems integration, development and utilization.
The Caucus is in the process of developing their charter and will conduct staff meetings through the new year to schedule briefings to educate Senators and staff on issues relating to unmanned systems.
The Caucus plans to address the uses of UAS and concerns regarding safety, privacy, safely integrating UAS into the NAS, command and control, airspace deconfliction and standards and regulations. Additionally, the Caucus looks forward to working with the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Justice, The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), industry and other stakeholders to develop a way forward for domestic and international UAS operations.
