Robert J. Palladino's term ended on September 20, 2019.
Mr. Palladino served as director of press and acting National Security Council spokesperson. He prepared the White House Press Secretary to brief from the podium, advocated national security policy to White House press corps, and worked as communications lead for Asia and Europe.
Since joining the Foreign Service, Mr. Palladino served as East Asia and the Pacific acting public diplomacy director; senior advisor for Congressional affairs to the undersecretary for public diplomacy; national security fellow to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand; Milan public affairs officer; Guangzhou public affairs officer; South and Central Asia spokesperson; China desk officer; staff assistant to the assistant secretary for East Asia and the Pacific; and Ho Chi Minh City consular officer.
Prior to joining the State Department, Mr. Palladino practiced law in Asia and Europe in the Army JAG Corps, and his service included deployment to Rwanda. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, the Washington and Lee University School of Law, and the U.S. Army War College. He speaks Chinese and Italian.
