H.R. 6290, Manufacturing.gov Act (CBO Report for Congress)

Premium   Download PDF Now (1 page)
Congress 117th
Date Requested July 20, 2022
Requested By House Committee on Energy and Commerce
Date Sent Sept. 6, 2022
Description:
H.R. 6290 would require the Department of Commerce to establish a section on its manufacturing.gov website that contains information about federal manufacturing programs. That new section would include contact information for relevant federal programs, an avenue for public feedback, and issue-area webpages. CBO expects that the department would carry out most of the activities required under H.R. 6290 as part of its normal duties to update and maintain the manufacturing.gov website. CBO estimates that the additional costs to implement the bill would be insignificant; any spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds. On July 27, 2021, CBO transmitted a cost estimate for S. 1037, the Manufacturing.gov Act, as ordered reported by the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation on May 12, 2021. The two versions of the legislation are similar and CBO’s estimates of their budgetary effects are the same.
