Congress 113th
Date Requested April 10, 2014
Requested By the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration
Date Sent April 18, 2014
Description:

As reported by the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration on April 10, 2014

S. 1947 would amend federal law to change the name of the Government Printing Office (GPO) to the Government Publishing Office. The bill also would change the name of certain positions at GPO.

Based on information from the GPO, CBO expects the agency would make some changes immediately (such as updating the office’s website), but would make other changes (such as updating printed materials, vehicle signage, and uniforms) over time as resources are replaced. CBO estimates that implementing S. 1947 would cost less than $500,000 over the next few years, subject to the availability of appropriated funds.

The legislation contains no intergovernmental or private-sector mandates as defined in the Unfunded Mandates Reform Act and would impose no costs on state, local, or tribal governments.
