JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (NNS) -- Cmdr. Stephen Curry relieved Cmdr. Carvin Brown as commanding officer of the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Jacksonville during a change of command ceremony Oct. 13 at the All Saint's Chapel aboard Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla.
Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) Commanding Officer Capt. Terrence Hammond presided over the event as CNATTU Jacksonville staff and students welcomed Curry and bid farewell to Brown.
Brown, a Daytona Beach, Fla., native, reported for duty as the CNATTU Jacksonville executive officer in November 2013 and assumed command of the unit in May 2015, ultimately overseeing various Navy Occupational Specialty (NOS) 'C' School training to the fleet on the SH-60 Sea Hawk, P-3C Orion and Aviation Support Equipment.
During Brown's tour at the helm of CNATTU Jacksonville, the command received numerous accolades, including a perfect score on the Training Management Assessment Program, an evaluation of how well a command provides training to the fleet. Under Brown's leadership, CNATTU Jacksonville also received an above average rating during an annual CNATT area visit, a testament to the command's flawless execution of the several processes to which every command must adhere.
Brown said that despite CNATTU Jacksonville's continued success, however, the most important aspect of leading the Sailors, Marines and civilian employees at the command remained the sense of teamwork he strove to instill.
"Some of my fondest memories include reading the Command Climate surveys and realizing how much of a difference was made by taking the time to care and support this command," said Brown. "I feel like I was part of a family, and our continued efforts in building morale and taking the time to get our Sailors, Marines and civilian staff input has turned a good command into a great command. We enjoy what we do, and every individual in this organization has contributed to our success."
CNATTU Jacksonville develops, delivers and supports the Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE) with aviation technical training necessary to meet fleet requirements by providing 'C' School learning and development curriculum on aviation support equipment, SH-60 Seahawk and P-3C Orion Navy Occupational Specialties.
CNATTU Jacksonville is part of the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training, which provides single site management for Navy and Marine Corps aviation technical training.
CNATT is a technical training agent for the Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE) an organization designed to advance and sustain naval aviation warfighting capabilities at an affordable cost, and is the largest training center under the Naval Education and Training Command (NETC) umbrella.
