Report No. GAO-20-602
Summary:

The U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness aims to coordinate federal efforts and partnerships to reduce and end homelessness. It consists of representatives from 19 federal agencies.

We examined the Council's ability to oversee its executive director and operations. Some roles and responsibilities for the governance of the Council, such as the types of matters that require Council approval, are not defined or documented. Doing so could provide Council members with a fuller understanding of their oversight responsibilities.

We recommended that the Council clarify and document roles and responsibilities.
