Summary:
On July 30, 2009, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved its FY2010 Labor, Health andHuman Services, Education, and Related Agencies spending bill. The Senate bill would provideformula grants to states and competitive grants to LEAs for elementary and secondary schoolconstruction and renovation. The Senate bill would make construction an allowable activity underthe Elementary and Secondary Education Act programs for Alaska Native and Native HawaiianEducation and fund the National Clearinghouse for Public Educational Facilities. The Senate billwould appropriate $701 million in FY2010 for the new educational facilities program and theNational Clearinghouse.
