Summary:
This report examines characteristics of workers and their families who maybenefit directly from an increase in the federal minimum wage. The first part of thereport provides information on the demographic and social characteristics (e.g., age, education) ofhourly workers who are paid less than $7.25 an hour, as well as the characteristics of the jobs they hold (e.g., occupation and parttime/full-time hours) and the characteristics of the families in which they live (e.g., familyincome, welfare receipt).
