Summary:
This report examines public charter school accountability, with a focus on thefederal role. In examining charter school accountability, however, we first considerto whom, for what, and how charter schools are held accountable and then examinehow charter school accountability is being carried out in the states. We then providean overview of the federal role in charter school accountability and describe howaccountability provisions in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)apply to public charter schools.
