Summary:
In the 108th Congress, several resolutions were introduced that would haveexpressed the sense of the Congress either that all major sports organizations shouldban the use of ephedra or that the Secretary of the Department of Health and HumanServices should remove ephedra from the market. Several bills introduced wouldhave established labeling and advertising rules for supplements containing ephedra, prohibited sales to minors, required premarket approval and post-market reportingof serious adverse effects. These bills received no further action. No bills concernedwith supplements containing ephedra were introduced in the 109th Congress.
