Summary:
The 2008 farm bill, the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 (P.L. 110-246) was enactedinto law on June 18, 2008. Title III of the bill authorizes and amends internationalagricultural export and food aid programs.On June 30, the President signed the Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2008 (H.R. 2642, P.L.110-252). Included in this "bridge" supplemental is a total of $1.885 billion forinternational food aid, development assistance, and disaster assistance for FY2008 and FY2009.With the supplemental appropriations, funding available for food aid in FY2008 amounted to anestimated $2.7 billion.
