Premium   Download PDF Now (2 pages)
Congress 116th
Date Requested March 4, 2020
Requested By House Committee on Foreign Affairs
Date Sent March 27, 2020
Description:
H.R. 5664 would authorize the U.S. Advisory Council on Human Trafficking to carry out its duties through 2025. The bill also would allow the Department of State to compensate members of the council for their work and would require the department to report to the Congress on how it plans to do so. The council is a nongovernmental body with eight members that advises the Department of State and other federal entities and reviews federal efforts to monitor and prevent trafficking in persons. The authority for the council to operate expires at the end of fiscal year 2021. On the basis of information from the department about the council’s ongoing duties and activities, CBO estimates that administrative support, travel, and per diem expenses of the council would cost about $450,000 each year over the 2022‑2025 period.
