Congress 116th
Date Requested Feb. 13, 2020
Requested By the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs
Date Sent Feb. 18, 2020
Description:
S. 3110 would require the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to study veterans’ disability compensation and pension benefits provided to members of the National Guard and reserve components of the U.S. Armed Forces between 2008 and 2018. That study would include a comparison of such benefits received by veterans who served in the reserve components and veterans who served in the regular component. A preliminary report would be due to the Congress within 18 months of the bill’s enactment, and the final report would be due upon completion of the study. On the basis of the cost of similar studies completed by GAO, CBO estimates completing the study would cost $1 million over the 2020-2025 period; such spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
