S. 873, Jay S. Hammond Wilderness Act (CBO Report for Congress)

Premium   Download PDF Now (1 page)
Congress 114th
Date Requested July 30, 2015
Requested By Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources
Date Sent Aug. 31, 2015
Description:

S. 873 would designate the 2.6 million acres of wilderness in the Lake Clark National Park and Preserve as the Jay S. Hammond Wilderness in honor of Alaska's fourth governor. The wilderness represents about 65 percent of Lake Clark's 4 million acres.

Based on information from the National Park Service on the cost of changing the name of a wilderness area, CBO estimates that S. 873 would have no significant effect on discretionary spending because revising federal maps and signs to reflect the new name would be done in conjunction with scheduled reprinting and other routine maintenance.

Enacting S. 873 would not affect direct spending or revenues; therefore, pay-as-you-go procedures do not apply.

S. 873 contains no intergovernmental or private-sector mandates as defined in the Unfunded Mandates Reform Act and would not affect the budgets of state, local, or tribal governments.
