A Democratic aide is taking her tech expertise to the Defense Department.
Sunmin Kim is now chief of the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center's policy division. The JAIC serves as the Pentagon's main center for AI delivery and adoption.
Kim, who holds a master's degree in mechanical engineering, comes from the office of Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), where she was a tech policy adviser.

A Republican aide with a decade of Hill experience is helping the National Nuclear Security Administration with its congressional affairs.
Scott Hughes comes from the office of Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), where he was most recently deputy chief of staff. He's now a congressional-affairs specialist at the National Nuclear Security Administration. The NNSA is a semi-autonomous Department of Energy agency that handles the country's nuclear stockpile, among other nuclear-security issues.
Before joining Cheney's office three years ago, at the beginning of the congresswoman's freshman year, Hughes worked for ex-Rep. Joe Heck (R-Nev.), Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) and ex-Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.).

A Democratic Senate aide has left the Hill for a medical-device company.
Lita Livadas is now director of public affairs at Becton, Dickinson and Co., better known as BD. The multi-billion-dollar company lobbies on health care, taxes and trade, among other federal issues.
Livadas spent the last four years with Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), most recently as senior policy adviser on health issues.

A veterinarian-turned-Senate aide has moved to a job he can really grow in.
Eric Deeble is now policy director at the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, which lobbies on farming and food policy. He comes from the office of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), where he was most recently a senior policy adviser handling agriculture and arts issues.
He first joined Gillibrand's office in 2013 as a American Veterinary Medical Association Fellow after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.

A railroad trade group has ridden off with a GOP committee aide.
Fred Miller is now a government affairs liaison and assistant general counsel at the Association of American Railroads. AAR dropped about $4.7 million on federal lobbying last year.
Miller spent the last nine years with the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, most recently as general counsel and previously as staff director to the Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee.
We spend a large part of our days looking at data. Documents often come in by the dozens and hundreds. And while most are boring - how interesting can staring at a phone directory or salary records be, for example? - we find daily reasons for interest, amusement or even concern packed in the documents. So we are launching a new running feature that we call "Caught our Eye."
Longer than tweets but shorter than most blog posts, Caught our Eye items will bring back the interest in reviewing documents and researching people. Some items might bring hard, breaking news. Others will raise eyebrows and lead some into further inquiry. Others might be good for a joke or two around the water cooler. All will enlighten about the people or workings of Capitol Hill.
