Rep. Cheney aide goes for the nuclear option

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Feb. 3, 2020

A Republican aide with a decade of Hill experience is helping the National Nuclear Security Administration with its congressional affairs.

Scott Hughes comes from the office of Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), where he was most recently deputy chief of staff. He's now a congressional-affairs specialist at the National Nuclear Security Administration. The NNSA is a semi-autonomous Department of Energy agency that handles the country's nuclear stockpile, among other nuclear-security issues.

Before joining Cheney's office three years ago, at the beginning of the congresswoman's freshman year, Hughes worked for ex-Rep. Joe Heck (R-Nev.), Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) and ex-Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.).
