Information
Organization's Own Description:
ICGA is a grassroots membership organization with 5,000 members. ICGA maintains a high profile in the legislative arena in Springfield, IL and Washington, DC through the benefit of membership dues. The Illinois Corn Marketing Act precludes the use of corn checkoff dollars for legislative activities so ICGA utilizes its membership income for these activities.
While Illinois Corn Marketing Board devotes resources to developing programs and materials geared toward corn market expansion, it takes ICGA volunteers and manpower to educate the public on a consumer level, and work to represent the industry's best interests.
Examples of ICGA efforts include: distribution of educational materials such as the Captain Cornelius comic books, grocery store and service station promotions, educational exhibits at state and county fairs, and working with statewide media on issues like ethanol.
