Air cargo and air transport has played an important part of our global economy since the dawn of aviation. Air cargo accounts for 35 percent of the world trade value carried by air and directly employs over a million people nationwide. Every one of our districts is supported by air cargo, either directly by an air cargo carrier, indirectly by industries that support air cargo, by industries that rely on air cargo, or by any one of our constituents as they go about their daily lives. It is unmistakable: without air cargo, the 21st Century economy and way of life wouldn’t be what it is today.
The Air Cargo Caucus aims to recognize the vital contributions of this industry by promoting an understanding of air cargo in Congress. The caucus will enhance Member relations with the all-cargo community, give Members the opportunity to specialize on issues impacting carriers, and allow collaboration on these issues with fellow Members of Congress. Future events will include issue briefings for Members and staff, facilitation of meetings with members of the air cargo community, and site visits to facilities nationwide that keep air cargo viable.
The Air Cargo Caucus is an excellent venue for Members to become educated about the industry and the impact air cargo has on regions, states, and worldwide.
