Founded on September 15, 2011, the Congressional HIV/AIDS Caucus consists of a bipartisan group of Members of Congress who are committed to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic, improving the lives of those infected with the disease, and ensuring that everyone is informed and knows their status.
The Congressional HIV/AIDS Caucus is a bipartisan Congressional Member Organization dedicated to serving as a clearinghouse for information on developments related to global and domestic HIV/AIDS. In the 113th Congress, the Congressional HIV/AIDS Caucus will explore opportunities and support policy initiates that help achieve an AIDS-Free Generation in the United States and around the world. More specifically, the Caucus will focus on domestic and international HIV/AIDS programs and initiatives, as well research efforts that can lead to a vaccine—and eventually a cure.
Thirty years since the first discovery of AIDS, the unprecedented global response to HIV/AIDS has reached important milestones. Thanks to bipartisan efforts in Congress, the Ryan White CARE Act, the National HIV/AIDS Strategy, the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) have dramatically expanded access to prevention, care, and treatment to millions around the world.
