Summary:

Many agricultural groups and their supporters in Congress believe that the sector's future prosperity depends upon such U.S. trade policies as: (1) legislation to permanently grant China the same favorable access to U.S. markets that almost all other nations have; (2) an exemption for agriculture from U.S. economic sanctions; (3) more use of export and food aid programs; and (4) aggressive negotiations to deal with foreign-imposed barriers to the movement of U.S. farm products.
