Description:
H.R. 2685 would authorize the appropriation of $500,000 for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to report on the cybersecurity of mobile service networks to the Congress within one year of enactment. Under the act, the NTIA would be required to consult related agencies and include assessments of mobile service provider cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the report, among other requirements. Based on spending patterns for similar activities, CBO estimates that implementing H.R. 2685 would cost less than $500,000 over the 2022-2027 period, assuming appropriation of the authorized amount.
