A longtime banking lobbyist with several passes through the revolving door has found a new job with Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.).
Michael Beresik is now the senator's legislative lead on economics, financial services and tax issues. He spent the last seven years at Standard Chartered, where he was managing director and head of public affairs for the Americas. Beresik was the sole federal lobbyist at the British multinational banking company.
Before that, Beresik was deputy staff director of the House Financial Services Committee. He's also worked as a lobbyist at H&R Block and PricewaterhouseCoopers and is a former Treasury Department deputy assistant secretary for financial-institutions policy.

Rep. Grace Meng's (D-N.Y.) new chief of staff comes from the financial-security world.
Maeve Healy joined the congresswoman's office this month after spending the last year at Finseca, a trade group for the financial-security industry. She worked in political affairs but did not register as a lobbyist during her time there. She previously worked for Meng's congressional campaign and for the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Rising and Empowering PAC, which Meng chairs.
The hire follows the departure of Meng's last chief, Justin Oswald, who left for a job with the White House Office of Legislative Affairs.

One of the fastest-growing lobbying firms has hired its second Democratic staffer since April.
Andrea Mares joined Fulcrum Public Affairs as a vice president this month. She spent the last eight years with Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), most recently working as a legislative assistant.
Fulcrum has hired three additional vice presidents since January, including Sarah Monteith from the office of Rep. Derek Kilmer (D-Wash.) last month. The Democratic firm, whose high-profile clients include Google and CVS, is on track for a 70 percent growth in lobbying revenue this year compared to last.

Plenty of congressional staffers end up on K Street. But for Adam Steinmetz, the journey was anything but conventional.
Adam Steinmetz began his career by earning a PhD in psychology from the University of Iowa, where he focused on the effects of marijuana use on learning and brain plasticity. After a post-doctoral fellowship, a job with the National Institute on Aging later brought Steinmetz to the D.C. area.
He moved to the House Budget Committee a year later and had worked as a GOP policy adviser until this month, when he joined Brownstein Hyatt as a policy adviser. Brownstein Hyatt is Washington's second biggest lobbying firm by disclosed lobbying income.

Senate Republicans have lost one of their top committee staffers to Accenture.
Gabrielle Singer is now a senior manager for government relations at the multinational consulting group, which dropped more than $3.5 million on federal lobbying last year.
Singer spent her Hill career with the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. She was most recently GOP staff director to the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations and has also served as staff director to the full committee.
We spend a large part of our days looking at data. Documents often come in by the dozens and hundreds. And while most are boring - how interesting can staring at a phone directory or salary records be, for example? - we find daily reasons for interest, amusement or even concern packed in the documents. So we are launching a new running feature that we call "Caught our Eye."
Longer than tweets but shorter than most blog posts, Caught our Eye items will bring back the interest in reviewing documents and researching people. Some items might bring hard, breaking news. Others will raise eyebrows and lead some into further inquiry. Others might be good for a joke or two around the water cooler. All will enlighten about the people or workings of Capitol Hill.
Caught our Eye items will be published each morning for LegiStorm Pro subscribers. Non-Pro site users will be able to receive the news items a few hours later. In addition to having immediate access to the news, LegiStorm Pro users will have a handy way to search and browse all past items.
