Senate Foreign Relations staff head moves to nonprofit

Posted by LegiStorm on June 17, 2016

Jodi B. Herman, former Democratic staff director of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is taking her foreign policy experience to the nonprofit world. She has left her position with the committee for a new job as vice president of government relations and external affairs at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

NED is a private foundation dedicated to the growth and strengthening of democratic institutions around the world. The nonprofit is funded primarily by congressional grants.

Herman began working for Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) in 2010, moving to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee as chief counsel and deputy staff director in 2013. She's spent the last two years working for the committee as staff director. She also served Menendez, the former committee chairman, as an adviser on a range of international policy and diplomacy issues. Herman holds a JD degree George Washington University Law School and a degree in international/global studies from American University.
