Transition Updates

LegiStorm tracks and provides full bios for Members-Elect and their orientation aides, transition aides, press and policy aides, and district or state aides as soon as they are announced. We provide these features to help subscribers stay up-to-date on the latest changes.

New Member Contact Lists

On the Find Member section of the site, you can see and save a list of Senators-Elect and Representatives-Elect, updated as the races are called.

After the new session begins, you can see and save a list of Senate Freshmen and House Freshmen.

Visit the Create Member List tab to download a spreadsheet of current member contact information, campaign addresses for current members and members-elect, or future contact information for members in the upcoming term (available once upcoming office assignments are announced).

The Create Member List tab also allows you to create and save a customized member list including all members or only Freshmen members, based on your own criteria such as states, caucus or committee assignments, educational history or party. Your custom member lists can be used throughout the site to power personalized StormFeed searches of press releases and tweets, advanced staff searches, or hearings searches. Pro Premium subscribers can use member lists for townhall searches, Lightning Alert notifications and much more.

Saved custom member lists are available for subscribers in the My Members Contact Lists page in your LegiStorm profile, where you can refresh lists based on custom criteria to check for changes, download a spreadsheet of contact details, or set Lightning Alerts to receive email notifications when members are added or removed from the list based on your search criteria (Pro Premium only).

New Member Hires

The Recent New Member Hires page lists new staff hired by members sworn in within the past three months, member-elect transition aides and confirmed hires by members-elect for their incoming staff.

After the new session begins, you can see and save a full list of Advanced Staff Search. Saved staff lists are available for subscribers in the My Staffers Contact Lists page in your LegiStorm profile, where you can refresh lists based on search criteria to check for changes, download a spreadsheet of contact details, or set Lightning Alerts to receive email notifications when staff are added or removed from the list based on your search criteria or if they switch to a new office (Pro Premium only).

Member-Elect Press Releases and Tweets in StormFeed

Subscribers can search our database of campaign press releases and tweets for members-elect or monitor Twitter traffic for these incoming members and their staff in real time. On our StormFeed search form, select the "show congressional members-elect only" option to see the latest news from incoming members only, or use a custom member list to track updates from the offices you are most interested in. Pro Premium subscribers can set Lightning Alerts for any StormFeed search to get custom email notifications as new tweets and/or press releases are published.

Lightning Alerts – Get email notifications of updates

Pro Premium subscribers can get Lightning Alert email notifications with the latest updates about the incoming congress. You can see and manage your current Lightning Alerts in the Lightning Alerts section of your profile.

New and incoming member staff hires: To get a daily update of staff hired by incoming members and members sworn in within the past three months, go to the New member hires page and click the button to "Add New Member Hires to Contact List". Create a new list and click the button to "Add" these staff. You will see a notification with a link to the new list (or you can access the list at any time in the My Staffers Contact Lists page in your LegiStorm profile). On the management page for this list, click the "Set a Lightning Alert" button to set up a daily email notification of new staff.

Staff changes in the new Congress: You can set Lightning Alerts to track changes in staff assigned to particular committees, staff assigned to a particular role or issue, staff working for a custom list of Members, or staff selected based on any other personalized search criteria. First, create a custom staff lists by using our Advanced Staff Search page. After you submit a search, click the button to "Add to Staffers Contact List". Once the contact list is created, go to the management page for this list to set a Lightning Alert.

Note that you can combine multiple searches onto a single list. For example, you can create a "Health Contacts" list by first searching for staff assigned to cover "Health" issues and adding them to a "Health Contacts" list. Next, you can search for staff with a Communications Directors role, who work for members of the Senate HELP committee and add the results to this same list. You can add as many additional searches to a single list in this way. Then, from the list management page, you will be able to download a single contact list and set a single Lightning Alert to monitor this complex custom criteria.

Member press releases and Tweets: To get a email updates when press releases or tweets of interest are published, go to the StormFeed section of our site, and use the search form to select keywords and member offices of interest. Click the "search" button to review and confirm the results. Then click the "Set Lightning Alert" button to set up email notifications as new press releases and tweets are published. You can choose to receive instant notifications or a daily or weekly digest of new results.

Other Alerts: As the new session progresses, don't forget that you can also set Lightning Alerts to track hearings and town halls for members of interest to you.
